Stage 1- Blue Island, IL

UGHHHHH, up at like 7:30 it's fucking raining........ on the road at 8:00. Roll in to beautiful Blue Island, Il at like 10:30 for the 11:30 start. Flat, 4-corner, windy, but no rain; 40 laps-40 miles, 50 starters or so. Not many folks down from Milwaukee, kinda surprising.

The Silver plan is to keep a low profile today, just roll around, go with a move if it seems dangerous, otherwise field sprint and move on to tomorrow.

Early on it was a bunch of faux-attacks, 1 or 2 guys going off, but nothing serious. Finally around half-way through a group of 4 got off. Hareland went across with another 3 guys and Flood bridged across too. They were gone and eventually lapped the field with about 5 to go.

It got wound up and then Flood took a flyer with about 1 to go and just got reeled back about 2 corners to go. It was a really straight, long sprint a little false flat into the wind. Hareland started a tad early and ended up 6th, Flood rolled in at 9th, and I was a very unimpressive 20th or so.... outside the money.

All in all good results, and really a great 1st day, except for the 6 hours in the car, Illinois tolls, shitty roads, and all you motherfuckers who camp out in the left lane. Can you tell I drove?

Back down to Bensenville, Il tomorrow. Already sick of Illinois races.
